WHO: Boréal Tordu Founded by members Rob Sylvain and Steve Muise, Boréal Trodu is a blend of traditional Northeast French-American styles and original material that defines a whole new paradigm of Franco-Maineiac music. Douce Having moved to Maine last year to build fiddles and stay cool, Louisiana\\\'s prodigal son, Matthew Doucet continues his family¹s musical tradition by fronting Portland¹s newest and truest Cajun band, Douce. Ti\\\' Acadie Ti¹ Acadie enjoys exploring the link between Northern (French) Acadian music and Southern Cajun music They play Quebecois, Cajun, New England, and old-timey dance tunes, and sing in 3-part harmony. Jimmyjo & the Jumbolayahs Maine\\\'s first Cajun dance band featuring Jim Joseph on button accordians, fiddle percussion and vocals. Muise et Muise Father and son, having played together since Steve was just un \\\'tit bit, deliver fiddle and guitar numbers from Old Acadie and New England. Frigate Traditional and Americana music with Irish, Scots, and French roots for all occasions on land and sea. Glen Loper (mando, banjo), Steve Muise (fiddle, guitar), and Fred White (guitar, percussion). A whole shipload of fun with a wicked-good pulse for dancing. WHY: To assist Gulf Coast refugees through Red Cross and Project HEAL- The Acadiana Arts Council recently announced the creation of Project HEAL to assist artists impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Project HEAL (Helping Employ Artists Locally) offers displaced artists employment opportunities in local communities. Artists working in a wide range of disciplines including dance, design arts, folk life, literature, media, music, theatre and visual arts are now being recruited for programs designed in partnership with local arts organizations and venues. Seamlessly integrating artists impacted by Hurricane Katrina into existing Acadiana Arts Council programs will quickly and directly assist those artists in immediate need of financial assistance.
